October 7, 2024 – We here at Binnovative are proud to reflect on another remarkable year of the NASA International Space Apps Challenge (ISAC), which brought together participants from across Massachusetts and beyond for a weekend of innovation and collaboration (October 5 and 6, 2024). As the official host of the event in Boston, Binnovative works with NASA and 15 other global space agencies to engage problem-solvers and innovators in addressing real-world space challenges.

This year’s hackathon, themed “The Sun Touches Everything,” inspired participants to explore new possibilities in heliophysics and space exploration. With over 93,500 participants from around the globe and more than 9,600 project submissions, ISAC 2024 set a new record for global engagement. Binnovative is thrilled to have been part of this incredible international effort, fostering collaboration and creative problem-solving in the greater Boston area and with the Japanese Consul, Finally, we’d like to thank our great judges, the Consulate General of Japan in Boston and our sponsors who supported us hosting ISAC Boston 2024 successfully.

“We are continually impressed by the talent, creativity, and passion shown by our participants,” says Eriko Nishinoto, Founder and CEO of Binnovative. “Learning from mentors and developing new approaches to understanding the Sun’s impact on our solar system, the projects developed here in Boston demonstrated great potential.”

The Boston event saw participants of all ages and backgrounds come together to form interdisciplinary teams, working to address NASA’s unique challenges. These challenges spanned across topics such as climate science, planetary exploration, and technological advancements in space exploration.
